Statement of Need
The past few decades have ushered in tremendous growth and change in nonsurgical aesthetic medicine. A paradigm shift towards a global 3-dimensional approach to volume restoration using combination therapy rather than treating individual areas has led to improved, more natural-appearing results and increased patient satisfaction. Because a wide spectrum of therapeutic options exists, aesthetic clinicians need to know how to effectively and safely combine and use multiple therapies to tailor treatment specifically to address individual patient anatomy, desires, and expectations. In this demanding field, insufficient knowledge and skills can contribute to improper treatment and inferior patient outcomes. A significant gap exists between the need for quality education and training for those interested in advanced practice of facial rejuvenation and the expert training that is currently available. This is especially true regarding longer-lasting soft tissue fillers. This CME-certified activity will pay particular attention to advanced uses of longer-lasting soft tissue fillers as a fundamental component of individualized facial rejuvenation.

Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of dermatologists, plastic surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, ocular plastic surgeons, ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists, dermatologic surgeons, and cosmetic surgeons, nurse practitioners, and PAs. It may also be of benefit to other physicians, nurses, and healthcare providers who are involved in the field of aesthetic medicine.

Learning Objectives
Upon proper completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
  • Evaluate recent clinical data on longer-lasting soft tissue fillers, especially characteristics such as safety and efficacy that affect treatment outcomes in facial rejuvenation.
  • Design individualized treatment plans that incorporate safe and effective use of longer-lasting soft tissue fillers for facial rejuvenation, including when and where these agents should and should not be used.
