Target Audience
This activity has been designed to address the educational needs of ID specialists, ID fellows, ID clinical pharmacists, epidemiologists, hospitalists, and other healthcare professionals involved with the diagnosis and management of multi-drug resistant infections in the hospital.
 
Learning Objectives
Upon proper completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
  • Discuss optimal strategies for managing hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) associated with multi-drug resistant organisms (MDROs) in light of the latest evidence and the current and anticipated antimicrobial armamentarium.
  • Identify approaches for effective use of newer antibiotics in view of the full range of considerations, including multi-drug resistance, which should shape selection of initial and subsequent antibiotic therapy.
  • Articulate antimicrobial stewardship practices that will result in optimal utilization of current and emerging antibiotics.
