Activity Description

Assessment of HER2 expression has been a mainstay of breast cancer (BC) management for decades, yet the concept of HER2-low has only recently emerged as an actionable biomarker. This expert faculty discussion includes a perspective from a pathologist, and sheds light on how to interpret HER2 test results and apply them to treatment selection for metastatic BC. The program also includes discussion regarding treatment sequencing and management of adverse events, as well as the latest data on trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd) and other emerging agents that target HER2-low.

Learning Objectives

At the completion of this program, learners will be better able to--

  1. Summarize the latest information on the classification of HER2 among breast tumors, with a focus on the category of HER2-low
  2. Apply the latest clinical trial data to treatment decisions for patients with HER2-low–expressing, relapsed/refractory BC

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of medical oncologists, pathologists, pharmacists, nurses, advanced practice providers, fellows, residents, and other clinicians involved in the care of patients with metastatic BC.
