Target Audience
This activity has been designed to address the educational needs of internists and other primary care clinicians, including family physicians, nurse practitioners, and PAs. It may also benefit gynecologists, emergency medicine clinicians, critical care clinicians, urgent care clinicians, pharmacists, and other clinicians who are interested or involved in the care of patients with influenza. 

Statement of Need
After a 20-year period of dormancy, the influenza treatment landscape has been revitalized by the approval of a first-in-class antiviral agent, which recently received a unique expanded indication for the treatment of patients who are at high risk for influenza-related complications. Primary care practitioners (PCPs), who see a large volume of high-risk patients, are uniquely positioned to ensure that such patients receive appropriate and timely care. To do so, they will require enhanced education to bridge gaps related to the diagnosis and treatment of influenza, including recognition of high-risk patients, identification of candidates for antiviral therapy, and the appropriate use of antiviral therapy, in accordance with evolving data and guidelines. 

Learning Objectives
Upon proper completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

• Select appropriate candidates for influenza treatment or prophylaxis based on guideline-recommended characteristics, without unnecessary testing
• Formulate treatment plans for patients with or at risk for influenza and related complications based on the latest evidence
