Program Overview

Recent releases of new clinical trial data for current nonstatins and new expert consensus treatment recommendations that target elevated levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) can help inform decision-making and treatment selection. Explore these therapies for patients with hypercholesterolemia through an engaging and interactive infographic that illustrates clinical trial data and treatment approaches.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to address the educational needs of cardiologists, cardiology nurses, lipid specialists, and primary care clinicians, including internists, family medicine physicians, pharmacists, nurses, nurse practitioners, PAs, and dietitians. It may also benefit other healthcare providers who manage patients with hypercholesterolemia.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

• Describe clinical trial designs and the associated efficacy and safety data for newer and emerging LDL-C–lowering therapies
• Distinguish among the unique drug characteristics of newer and emerging nonstatin LDL-C therapies that may impact clinical decision-making
• Recognize the role of diet in patients with elevated LDL-C, including those currently prescribed pharmacotherapy
• Discuss the role of team-based care and shared decision-making in applying the guideline to various clinical practice settings

CRITERIA FOR SUCCESS

Statements of credit will be awarded based on the participant’s attendance and submission of the activity evaluation form. Partial credit may be awarded for ACPE credit. A statement of credit will be available upon completion of an online evaluation/claimed credit form at the end of this activity. The deadline to claim credit is May 19, 2024.
