Program Overview

Do clinical trial results predict real-world outcomes for patients with diabetic macular edema or neovascular age-related macular degeneration who receive second-generation retinal therapies? Real-world factors to consider include more diverse patients, less-controlled practice conditions, and variability in treatment patterns and durability. This interactive, match game–style CME activity compares second generation retinal therapies across efficacy, safety, and durability, helping ophthalmologists reconcile clinical trial data with real-world findings to optimize outcomes in routine practice where formal guidance is limited.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Evaluate the outcomes of second-generation retinal therapies reported in the real world versus those reported in clinical trials
  • Optimize the treatment of patients with neovascular retinal disease with consideration of data from both clinical trials and the real world
