Target Audience
This activity has been designed to address the educational needs of physicians and pharmacists. It may also be of benefit to other healthcare providers such as PAs, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals who make up the multidisciplinary team responsible for the treatment of patients with chronic heart failure.
 
Learning Objectives
Upon proper completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
  • Summarize recommendations for pharmacologic treatment of chronic heart failure according to current clinical data and the 2013 ACCF/AHA Guideline for the Management of Heart Failure.
  • Describe the mechanisms of action of, clinical evidence for, and appropriate use of newer chronic heart failure therapies.
  • Explain the benefits of a multidisciplinary team approach to treating patients with chronic heart failure, using examples of potential collaboration among healthcare practitioners.
