Target Audience
This activity has been designed to address the educational needs of emergency medicine physicians and other emergency medicine professionals, hospitalists, clinical pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals involved in the management of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) in the hospital setting.
 
Learning Objectives
Upon proper completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
  • Describe the pharmacologic differences among oral anticoagulants and their use in patients with nonvalvular AF.
  • Accurately assess the degree of anticoagulation in patients with AF who present with bleeding in order to determine an individualized management plan.
  • Critically evaluate the data of emerging anticoagulation reversal agents and their emergent use in patients with nonvalvular AF.
